Program Description

  • CET focuses mostly on training individuals in their career field of interest.
  • CET is a national career technical training provider. The training consists of both hands on learning and classroom instruction.

Eligibility

  • Must be over the age of 17 1/2
  • High School Diploma or GED or Foreign HS Equivalency or ATB
  • Proof of income
  • Identification Card (ID) or Driver’s License
  • Social Security Card
  • Residency Card (if applicable)

Tuition Fees

  • Prices range from $10,000- $13,000 per program.
  • Financial aid is available for students.

Duration & Registration

  • The training programs are from 6 -12 months.
  • No specific registration dates, it is open enrollment.

Transportation

Enrollment Steps

  1. Admissions is open throughout the year. Applicants can apply whenever they are ready.
  2. The applicant will then take a tour of the campus and are encouraged to choose the program that best interests them.
  3. After the applicant decides which program, they develop an academic plan with their advisor and get connected with any necessary supportive services.

  • Job Corps provides both hands on learning and classroom instruction to youth ages 16 through 24.
  • San Jose Job Corps offers 16 different career technical education programs.
  • Students are provided with housing, meals, basic health care, a living allowance and free training.

Eligibility

  • Young people who are not in school, runaways, foster youth, parents or homeless are encouraged to apply.
  • Ages 16-24
  • Legal U.S resident
  • Meets low-income criteria
  • In need of additional technical training and education
  • Has a child care plan
  • Does not require any face-to-face court or institutional supervision
  • Cannot be on probation

  • It is free to join San Jose Job Corps.

Duration & Registration

  • Every Thursday Job Corps conducts pre-registration meetings and tours of the center for individuals interested in joining.
  • Job Corps is a self-paced program, meaning students learn at their own pace.
  • Depending on the career area you choose and the learning pace students set for themselves, training can take from 8 months – 2 years.

  • Job Corps will provide your transportation to and from home for free

  • The period of training is from 1 to 6 years, depending on the trade. Most programs are 5 years.
  • Open enrollment, no specific start and end date.

Enrollment Steps

  1. Select an occupation of interest or previous experience.
  2. Depending on the program, each applicant should find out if they meet the minimum qualifications for the occupation of interest.
  3. Applicants should decide if they are able to work under the required conditions, some of which may be hazardous or dirty.
  4. Apply for the apprenticeship either directly through an employer, or through California Employment Development Department.
  5. Take any tests required.
  6. Research if apprenticeship has a wait list.
  7. Begin Program.
